Either be a citizen of an African country or a resident of any African country, with a minimum of two years of continued residence, or in a university program or department specializing in African studies
Have 5+ years of experience working on Africa-related issues (e.g., academic, media, public advocacy, legal, finance, or diplomatic spaces)
Have at least one published opinion article, report, research paper, or book
Demonstrate a record of promoting policies and ideas that advance freedoms, open society, and government accountability

Confirmation of ability to attend annual in-person meetings in Africa
Member Expectations
Attend the annual (fully-funded) in-person GAS meeting
Participate in biannual virtual GAS meetings
Contribute to the GAS journal Review of African Economic and Social Development
Engage in GAS conversations and debates on peace, freedom, and prosperity in Africa
